| World Snowboard Capital of Sofia Ready for Big Air Cup Finals |
By News BG, 21-12-2007 - Snowboarding in Bulgaria reaches its top this Friday and Saturday, December 20-21.
Bulgaria capital of Sofia converts in snowboard capital of the world, hosting Big Air Snowboarding World Cup.
Best snowboarders from the world elite will participate in the competition for the world cup. We remind you that the event is taking place on ‘Kniaz Aleksander I' (Batenberg) square.
The loading platform is already finished and ready for the best riders. The construction is 100 m long, 25 m wide and 31 m high. There is 300 tons of snow (600 cubic meters) upon it.
Sixty competitors from 15 countries applied for participation in the championship.
World famous snowboarders: Janne Korpi (Finland), Risto Mattila (Finland), Stefan Gimpl (Austria), Peetu Piiroinen (Finland) will compete with Bulgarian masters Mario Benio, Dimiter Chokoev and Asen Lilov.
Other cities that hosted the starts this season are: Rotterdam (Holland), Graz (Austria), Moscow (Russia) and Stockholm (Sweden).
On Friday the event start at 18.00h with demonstrations on small loading platform. The Cup finals are foreseen for Saturday, round 17.30h.
